Russian forces have struck rail stations in central and western Ukraine. Russia continues to attack the encircled steel plant of Mariupol, Azovstal Steel Plant. There are still no evacuation plans for the people surrounded by the plant, said Ukraine’s deputy minister. The US Secretary of State told Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskeyy that US diplomats will return to Ukraine in the week of April 25, to May 1, when they met in Kyiv on Sunday, April 24, 2022. 

Also, Russia’s foreign minister insisted that a nuclear war is real, but Russia is trying to keep the chances low. Furthermore, the US Secretary of State said that Ukraine will be around for much longer than Vladamir Putin. He also said in a meeting with the press that Ukraine is succeeding, and Russia is losing. Back in Ukraine, air defense systems are up and running in the Lviv region. The Secretary of State met with Zelenskyy on Sunday, April 24, 2022 and their meeting lasted three hours, in the end, a US top diplomat said, “We certainly saw people on the streets in Kyiv — evidence of the fact that the battle for Kyiv was won” (McCarthy et al.).
